On Monday, Oct. 31, a spokesperson for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office announced that Joshua Mykele Claiborne, 21, and Timothy Green, 33, both of Waldorf are facing charges following an incident last week.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a store in the 2400 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf when they spotted a handgun on the driver’s side floorboard, officials said.

Three occupants were removed from the vehicle, and further investigation revealed the handgun was loaded and had an extended magazine, and synthetic drugs were recovered from the driver, Claiborne.

He was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded handgun, possession with intent to distribute, and other gun-related charges, according to the sheriff's office.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a passenger in the vehicle, Green, had an active arrest warrant in Prince George’s County for drug-related charges.

Claiborne and Green were transported to the Charles County Detention Center. On Friday, Oct. 28, a judge released Claiborne after paying $250 of a $2,500 bond and a district court commissioner released Green on his own recognizance.

No return court dates have been announced.
